Located in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant Andersonville neighborhood, The Coffee Studio is much more than your typical coffee shop. This cozy, bright space at 5628 N Clark St invites coffee enthusiasts and casual visitors alike to savor a carefully curated selection of beverages and light fare in an inviting, artistic atmosphere.
The Coffee Studio stands out with its dedication to quality and craftsmanship. Whether you’re craving a robust espresso or prefer something more nuanced like their pour-over coffee or silky cortado, each cup showcases single-origin beans prepared with precision. The decaf americano—a favorite among patrons—is noted for being remarkably smooth, offering all the richness of regular coffee without the caffeine buzz. For those seeking a twist on classic beverages, the Xocoveza-Mocha Stout and the refreshing Twisted Cold Brew offer exciting alternatives that push the boundaries of traditional café menus.
Beyond coffee, the food menu delights with an array of fresh pastries and savory options perfect for breakfast or a light lunch. Guests frequently praise the kale feta pastry, which intriguingly echoes the flavors of spanikopita with a softer, tender texture. The mushroom and goat cheese quiche balances earthiness and creaminess inviting you to savor every bite, while a variety of breakfast sandwiches and fresh-baked croissants provide hearty, satisfying options. For those with a sweet tooth, muffins and scones—especially the blueberry muffin and the hitchhiker scone—deliver comforting warmth, ideal accompaniments to your latte or iced hibiscus tea.
The Coffee Studio goes beyond being a simple stop for coffee by offering a thoughtful selection of craft beers, ciders, and wines. From local Illinois brews like Prairie Path’s Gluten-Free Blonde and Begyle’s Crash Landed Pale Wheat Ale to internationally sourced wines such as the 2017 Hunky Dory Tangle from Marlborough, New Zealand, each option is carefully selected to complement the café’s artisanal ethos.
Visitors often highlight the café’s bright and airy atmosphere, thanks to its expansive windows that flood the space with natural light—though early morning visitors might want to bring sunglasses to fully enjoy the sunny ambiance. The friendly and attentive staff create a genuine neighborhood feel, making every guest feel welcome and valued. Multiple reviewers mention how the kindness and helpfulness of the baristas enhance their experience, perfectly paired with the comforting warmth of drinks like the caramel latte or delightful peppermint mocha.
For those looking to spend a quiet afternoon working or studying, The Coffee Studio offers a comfortable and clean environment, complete with conveniently placed power outlets to keep you connected. Art enthusiasts will appreciate the unique touch of artist prints adorning the walls, all available for purchase, adding a cultural vibrancy to the space that doubles as a creative gallery.
While some note that prices can be on the higher side, the consensus is that the quality, customer service, and overall ambiance make it well worth it—whether for a solitary morning ritual, a casual catch-up with friends, or a productive day away from the office. The Coffee Studio perfectly marries exceptional coffee culture with community spirit, making it a true gem in Chicago’s diverse café landscape.
The coffee is quality. They list single origin and method. I ordered a decaf americano and it was so smooth. The pastries are also good. I ordered a kale feta pastry that tasted a bit like spanikopita just not as crunchy. Network was good on 2 of 3 of my devices but for some reason wouldn't load on the third. A but pricey but worth it once in awhile. Also a great place to get work done.
Great spot with a very neighborhood feel to it. Has a very nice selection of pastries and coffee on offer. There's a selection of artist prints on the wall and they are all for sale as well. If you go early in the morning you may want to consider bringing sun glasses! It gets very bright with the angles and nothing else in the way to block the light.
The kindness of the staff and the caramel latte really gets me through the tired/rough days. On extra rough days a blueberry muffin or a hitchhiker scone hits the spot. It’s comfy, cozy, and clean. I’d like to add that the peppermint mocha is delightful. Update: the caramel latte the past several weeks has leaned more to a butterscotch flavor. Still delicious both iced and hot.
This coffee shop has a bright and inviting atmosphere, thanks to its large windows, making it a great spot for working or studying. They serve Pedestrian Coffee, though I personally didn’t find the coffee to be to my taste, and it is on the pricier side. The space is a bit small, so it can feel cramped when it’s busy. On the plus side, there are power outlets conveniently located next to the tables, which is great for those who need to charge their devices.
Best customer service ever! Very kind and helpful baristas! The have art pieces to buy on their wall and comfortable seats to enjoy your coffee while reading a book, enjoying the view or just taking a break from you Andersonville Neighborhood tour.
Hands down, Coffee Studio has the best coffee in Andersonville. It’s not just that they serve amazing coffee—they have incredible baristas who really listen and make my latte exactly the way I like it. Now after my morning workout, I just can’t help but swing by every day. I guess you could say I’m happily hooked!
A great coffee shop that we stumbled upon while visiting near Loyala campus. A great shop with cool coffee selections and baked vegan pastries. We ordered vanilla latte and caramel latte. Both lattes and pastry were great. Service was really good. Very relaxing place where seat back relax and enjoy great coffee.
